Paddlepower Passport Course - Youth

Learn the fundamentals of paddling your own boat, and have fun doing it. Our beginner course covers the syllabus for BCU Paddlepower Passport Levels 1 - 5. Choose a 2-day course or a five morning course to gain your introduction to paddlesports.

Paddlepower Discover Course - Youth

For the paddler who already has the basic skills and/or 1 Star Award (Paddlepower level 5), this course will help to develop your boat control and confidence. Our Paddlepower Discover course covers the syllabus for BCU Paddlepower Levels 6 - 9. Choose a 2- day course or five afternoons.

Adult Evening Course - Adult

Multi Activity Clubs

Some of our most popular programmed activities are the after-school water activities clubs. During the summer term we will operate clubs on two evenings each week. During the autumn term we will operate on two afternoons each week. All of our club sessions offer the perfect opportunity to spend time on the water
learning new skills, improving techniques, and simply having fun. The sessions could be canoeing or sailing, with a variety of boats available to try out. All levels are catered for – come down and join in! Please note that clubs do not operate during half-term break.

IYWAC - Canoeing

Canoeing is one of the most accessible water activities, no complicated equipment to organise; just get changed; pick up your boat; and go. Whether you want to take your first few paddle strokes or if you want help to train and plan for a major expedition our highly experienced and qualified instructors are ready to help you achieve. Our fleet of canoes and kayaks has grown over recent years and now offers many different types of boat. All equipment is provided at the Centre including buoyancy aids, spraydecks and helmets. The Centre offers a variety of courses for young people and adults. Once you have learned to canoe why not join our Saturday Canoe Club, please contact Kevin at the Centre for full details.

 

 

Details of Canoes

We have an array of different kayaks and canoes suitable for all abilities and disciplines from the novice right up to the advanced paddler.

Beginners 

10 multipurpose kayaks. These include Perception Dancers and mirage kayaks.
These are suitable for Youths and Adults and are perfect for teaching all the FUNdamentals of kayaking.

3 Pyranha Master light’s for the smaller paddler these kayaks have a retractable skeg. This allows both manoeuvrability and straight line stability all at the pull of a toggle.

Touring

8 Perception Spectrum touring kayaks, these are very roomy and have dry storage areas for all you camping equipment. They are great for trips along the coast and even across to the mainland.

1 double touring boat, this is great for participants who are disabled or have special needs. It’s also great for paddlers of mixed abilities to stay together in a group.

Play and moving water

3 Pyranha 220 play boats, for the more advanced paddler these boats will allow you to show off your skills.

3 Necky Jives, Kayak surfing is the fastest growing kayak discipline in the UK and these boats will allow you to experience this amazing activity.

1 Pyranha 270, this is a creek boat and is suitable for the larger paddler who still wants a manoeuvrable kayak.

Canadian Canoes

4 Canadian canoes. Canadian canoeing can be a graceful activity as well as a stable platform for games. Our 17 foot Dagger Legend can be paddled solo or as a team.
